It’s been a month since I ditched social media and it’s been one of my best decisions. As a college student, I’ve noticed my focus and ability to retain info has gotten way better since I stopped getting constantly distracted by social media applications.
The main reason I cut ties with social media was because of the fake news and constant emotional stimulation I was exposed to on a daily basis. Every other post was either a clickbait or a dramatized news story, and it was starting to affect my mental and emotional health. But now that I’ve unfollowed everyone and stopped the nonstop flow of info, I feel more chill and at peace.
With all the extra time I’ve gained from quitting social media, I’ve been able to hit the books, explore my city, and pursue other passions. I’ve been writing articles like this one, and working on my personal blog and website where I share my language learning tips and personal experiences.
Don’t get me wrong, I still use social media for important stuff like reaching out to my friends and family, and for my personal growth as a content creator. But by limiting my time on social media and being more intentional with what I consume, I’ve been able to improve my overall well-being and focus on what really matters in life.
In conclusion, quitting social media has been a game changer for me. It’s allowed me to connect deeper with the people around me, boost my focus and mental health, and be more mindful about what I consume.
